Even before we were called ClapLab, our game generator started as a tool for internal use, without a user interface. Only then did it become a tool for customers who wanted adjustments of games independently. Therefore, the generator was a functional tool where less attention was paid to the game creation interface. From the moment we were published as a tool used by users who freely access the generator, it was clear to us that our next step was to innovate more and more in the generator. The innovations we decided to work on are:
- Improving the design and user experience (UX/UI).
- Adding functionality in the generator (LMS).
- Improving and streamlining the games themselves.
Improving the design and user experience
In the last year and a half, since we strengthened the company’s work on the generator, we have invested more and more in the visibility of the generator, and in the user experience. Every process and every action of the user is important and that’s why we tested and we continue to test how to make it easier for him to implement them. The main goal we defined: to allow generator users to create games without having to contact us. Screenshot of the new design of the ClapLab game generator In accordance with the guideline we developed the registration process. In this process, from the moment users log in to the time they create the first game, no more than a few clicks are needed. We simplified the process so that we removed unnecessary choices and shortened the game creation time. The change increased the number of games that new users create and solved a problem of users who joined the generator and “dropped out” even before creating a game.
New design for the generator!
As you can see in the picture above, we have redesigned the generator and these days we are implementing the new look. The new design is cleaner and highlights the things we found to be more meaningful to users. We put emphasis on editing capabilities even before entering the game page itself, getting sharing options and also new functionality!
Adding functionality in the generator (LMS)
At the request of many users, we added an option to “collect” data from the players. By clicking on the ” Results collection ” button, the system will start collecting the players’ game data. At the end of each game, the score and time will be saved in the system (according to the player’s choice) in a nickname that the players choose for themselves. The game creators can collect the data and view it at any given time by clicking the ” Show Results ” button Scoreboard button in the ClapLab game generator Clicking on the button will open a view of the scoreboard in which the players’ achievements are displayed. You can view the table in real time, download the data in XL format and reset the table for renewed data collection. The buttons on the left show the various options and using the table is quick and easy.
Improving and streamlining the games themselves
The games developed in the generator are very flexible and allow players to change designs and change the nature of the game by editing the game itself or the JSON files. However, we felt that the games themselves could be dramatically improved and much more advanced editing options could be added at the average user level. Therefore, in recent months we have been working on rewriting the games themselves and we hope to upload the new games soon. Even in the editing of the games, we renewed the entire visibility and soon we will reveal more details about these innovations.
Happy New Year to all creators and users
On this occasion we wish all game creators, and the players of course, a good and sweet year, a year full of creativity and game creation, a year of pleasure, happiness and blessing. Happy New Year!
