How was the pattern of a cracking game born?
We created our game templates after a lot of communication with operators of group activities, working together and reading the needs in the field of various organizations.
While creating the templates, we conducted surveys among dozens of coordinators of programs that are run in schools. We presented them with a list of game templates and asked them to choose the templates they would like to see in the generator.
The pattern of the cracking game was one of the most popular, and it became clear to us that many organizations had already prepared physical patterns – a huge polygal where there is room for the slots of the game.
With this physical game they went to the different sessions.
Therefore, when we offered the digital cracking game it was among the top three on the top of the list.
Creating a cracking game in ClapLab
In the cracking game, the players have to create a sequence of slots horizontally or vertically.
The competing teams use strategy to block and bypass each other until the sequence is completed.
When the game comes with trivia questions when the first letter is presented to the players, it adds excitement to trying to occupy the correct slot.

How to create a cracking game?
To create a cracking game, follow these steps:
- Log in and register for ClapLab .
- Choose to create a new game and mark the cracking game .
- Enter the questions you prepared in advance.
- That’s it, the game is ready.
In the cracking game, the questions are “open” questions – that is, the answer to the question is a word or words that the players type into the game.
If you choose a closed question when editing the questions, only the answer you choose is the correct answer (this way it will be possible to use the same question for our other trivia games as well).
If you choose an open question just type the correct answer.
Questions, clues and answer by typing
As you can see in the board in the picture, the choice of the square that needs to be answered is affected by the position of the square in the hive of letters, and also by the letter that is on the question.
Choosing a rare letter will likely bring up an answer that will be easier to find. Conversely, a common letter can raise a question to which the answers are varied.
The game shuffles the questions and distributes them randomly among the squares in the hive, and if fewer questions than the number of hexagons are entered, there will be questions that are distributed twice. This is to keep the game running smoothly.
As mentioned, the players answer by typing, which makes the game more difficult and the character of the game leader more active and meaningful.
Tips for making a cracking game
- Choose questions whose answers are a word or two long.
- Make sure the answers are unambiguous.
- Try to vary the letters with which the answers begin, in order to create a diverse beehive.
- In case of full spelling or different spelling options help players.
- The game is relatively long. Contact him for at least 20 minutes.
- While transferring the games, check your typing carefully before clicking “Continue”.
- Explain the rules of the game to the players – young players do not know the game.
Soon we will make it possible to create the game in English as well, for the benefit of the English version of the game generator.
You are welcome to enjoy the generator and use it also in quizzes for learning English, or for an English-speaking audience.
The cracking game is excellent for groups of all ages, and in the eyes of some of the audience it is nostalgic and evokes special emotions.
It is recommended to run the game as part of a summary activity, or as a record game on a certain topic.
